Youth programs
Led by a professional church worker, the youth ministry is extensive.
King’s Kids
King’s Kids is a pre-teen program designed to provide children with an opportunity to participate in Christ-centered activities and fellowship. It is designed for children in grades 4, 5, and 6. The group meets once a month for a devotional time and fun, friendship-building activities. Activities have included bowling, treasure hunts, skating, and everyone’s favourite Annual Camp-o-rama. Your children are welcome to come along to events or bring friends. The goal of our program is to share Jesus’ love with young people and help them as they grow and mature in their relationship with Him.
Junior and Senior Youth (Grades 7-12) Friday from 7:00-9:00 pm
During the school year our the youth meet every Friday nights for ”in-activities” – meeting at the church for games – as well as ”out-activities” - going out into the community for recreational and social activities.
R.U.S.H. – Reaching Unity this Side of Heaven (Jr. & Sr. High)
RUSH is the name of the monthly city-wide youth event. These are held at end of each month, and are for both Jr. and Sr. High Youth.
Bible Study (Jr. & Sr. High)
During the school year, Youth meet for a weekly Bible study on Thursday afternoons. This is a time for them to learn more about God’s love and how His Word applies to their daily lives.
Confirmation
Students begin confirmation at St. Matthew in the fall of their grade 7 year. It is a two year program in which we study the six chief parts of Luther’s catechism.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is an annual outreach event St. Matthew hosts for children in our congregation and community. Held in August this year, it is a five-day program for children aged 4-12 to come and learn and grow in knowledge and love for Jesus, their Saviour. Vacation Bible School is a learning time set in a fun environment. From music to crafts, from games to lessons, everything is planned with the purpose of sharing Jesus and His love and it is done in many creative ways. All lessons and activities are age-appropriate, geared to teach children in a manner they understand. The week culminates with an evening program where the children for their parents some of the songs and drama they participated in during the week.
Young Adults
Adults aged 18-35ish meet for Bible study and events throughout the year.
